Local Prevention Councils, known as LPCs, are grassroots groups that work to engage community members in substance abuse prevention efforts at the local level. The New Haven LPC is a community coalition working to prevent substance abuse and underage drinking in New Haven, CT.
The New Haven LPC was established to enhance and facilitate local involvement in the development and implementation of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention activities. The Connection, Inc was the LPC’s lead agency for the past 5 years. As of 2015, the New Haven Family Alliance (NHFA) has taken the role as the lead agency. The Consultation Center (TCC) has partnered with NHFA to support the New Haven LPC as it works to prevent underage drinking and substance abuse.
The Mission of the New Haven LPC is to educate and promote healthy lifestyles in order to prevent substance abuse in New Haven.
The goals of the New Haven LPC are to:
increase the capacity of the coalition to address substance use and abuse
provide and disseminate information
implement prevention activities focusing on youth
Membership to the New Haven LPC is open to anyone interested in working to address substance abuse in our community. We are actively recruiting new members.
The New Haven LPC meets monthly every 3rd Thursday at New Haven Family Alliance located at 230 Ashmun Street from 12:00-1:30PM.
